We decided to take off for Iceland to escape the summer heat. Before our departure, we had to check on Eyjafjallajokull, one of the many active volcanoes on the island and also the most recent to erupt! With the air free of volcanic ash, or tephra, and the weather in good climate, our trip was sure to be a success. We landed in Rekjavik, Iceland's capitol city and the most northern capitol in the world! The winds from the North Atlantic ocean made the already chilly weather even colder, Burr!! The local fisherman didn't seem to care however, as they worked diligently to produce one of Iceland's major exports, fish!! Before heading home, Charlie and I made sure to acquire an Icelandic Krónur to add to the collection.
