If you think there’s a lot of ice in Iceland you are mistaken. It’s as green and beautiful as can be. Charlie and I couldn’t wait to explore! When we landed on a small airstrip in a city called Rekyvk (rake-yuh-vik) we were greeted by several Icelanders who invited me for a delicious lunch of sausage, cold milk, and something called “skyr,” which is kind of like a cross between yogurt and cottage cheese and has sugar sprinkled on top! Icelandic is a language that sounds like German. In fact it is really is German. I could not understand it so one of my hosts who spoke English translated for me. Danish and English are popular languages in Iceland as well. My next stop will be Germany.
