Winter 2007

It’s almost November and because it’s getting cold here in Ohio I thought it was time for Charlie and I to fly where it is warm. I packed my bag and checked Charlie’s fuel level for our flight to Kuwait, near Saudi Arabia! This is a hot and sandy country and the perfect place to say good bye to cold weather for a day or two. We landed in as-Salimiyah, Kuwait’s largest city. What a beautiful place! Most people in Kuwait speak Arabic, while many do speak English. The Kuwaiti monetary unit is the dinar. Interestingly, I learned from a local woman that she voted for the first time ever in 2006. before that women were not allowed to vote. It was very hot and humid this day. The temperature was 97 degrees and for the first time in weeks I actually wanted the cold back. However, Kuwait’s beauty was worth my time. I learned that Kuwait’s history dates back to the first millennium B.C.

Kuwait is the world’s 2nd largest oil exporter! After a day of heat and no sandstorms Charlie and I decided to say farewell to the beauty and warmth of Kuwait and fly home to cold.
